Fettuccini
Get yourself a Italian pasta maker, and you'll want to do this all the time.
What we used:
- Flour
- Water
- Salt
- 1 egg
How we do it:
- Start off with a simple pasta dough recipe, then experiment to get the texture and consistency you prefer depending on what kind of noodles you're making.
- Cut dough into a few pieces smaller than width of your pasta machine.
- Without using the attachment, adjust the machine according to how you'd like each noodle. Start with a high number and run dough through until you find the right thickness.
- Cut the rolled pieces to the desired length for each noodle.
- Using the attachment, roll dough through the thickest setting on the machine for Fettuccine.
- Hang groups of pasta to dry for about an hour.
- Pour yourself some wine and begin preparing sauce or sides that you'll be serving if you haven't already.
Why we did it:
- The cost is virtually nothing and uses ingredients you probably already have at home.
- There's always a ton of pasta left over that you can freeze once it's dry.
- You can add finely chopped veggies or vegetable juice to make flavored pastas.
- Plus you can alternate wheat flour to make the pasta healthier!
